About Moana Dixon | Owner of HF Atelier
During her eighteen-year journey as a VP of Sales in the wine and spirits industry, Moana Dixon, founder of HUNTEDFOX and HF Atelier, traveled extensively to some of the most remote regions of the world. Her work, deeply rooted in building global brands for the U.S. market, took her from the sprawling Scotch distilleries of Scotland to the agave fields of Oaxaca and Jalisco, Mexico. Along the way, Moana developed a profound appreciation for the indigenous textiles she encountered—handwoven stories of culture, heritage, and craftsmanship passed down through generations.
These early encounters sparked a passion tied to her own rich ethnic heritage, ultimately shaping her eye for transitional, globally inspired, and timeless design. Yet she noticed a troubling pattern: while major retailers often mimicked the styles and patterns of these handmade goods, they stripped them of their soul and cultural significance.
In 2015, HUNTEDFOX was born—a heartfelt response to preserve and revive authentic craftsmanship. It began with Moana sewing pillows on her childhood sewing machine and quickly grew into a recognized home decor brand that celebrated the artistry corporate stores had forgotten. Inspired by her travels across Africa, Western Europe, and South America, each HUNTEDFOX piece told a story—crafted to restore the richness, depth, and beauty that mass-market goods too often lacked.
The brand’s rapid rise caught the attention of local creatives and global tastemakers alike: Gina Rodriguez discovered HUNTEDFOX at a Venice Beach artisan market, Jo Malone placed custom orders, and NBC’s The Voice selected Moana’s pillows for their celebrity green rooms. Her now-signature turquoise zippers—an homage to summers spent on Navajo reservations—became synonymous with the brand’s deep storytelling. Every piece was handmade in Downtown Los Angeles at her female-led creative studio, embodying a commitment to authenticity, detail, and longevity.
As demand evolved, so did the vision.
In 2023, Moana expanded her creative mission by launching HF Atelier—a custom furniture-focused design house dedicated to hospitality projects, boutique hotels, residential spaces, and architectural renovations. HF Atelier draws directly from HUNTEDFOX’s foundation of soulful craftsmanship, but extends it into bespoke leather furniture, seating solutions, and large-scale custom commissions.
Today, Moana Dixon and her team at HF Atelier continue to blend heritage artistry with contemporary design, garnering clients like the Ian Schrager Hotel Group and leading custom renovation projects as far as South Africa. Known for meticulous attention to detail, masterful leatherwork, and an unshakable commitment to quality, HF Atelier stands as a natural evolution of the story Moana began with a single handmade pillow—and a commitment to honoring the soul of craftsmanship in every piece.
