Made-to-order and custom Atelier HF pieces are built to the client's specified dimensions, materials, and design selections. These terms govern deposits, changes, cancellations, and final sale for those pieces.

Custom Orders Are Final Sale

Made-to-order and custom pieces are fabricated specifically for the client. For this reason, they are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded once production has begun.

The following do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund:

• Change of mind
• Project delays unrelated to Atelier HF
• Contractor or construction schedule changes
• Delays in client response to communication from the studio
• Changes in personal taste, design direction, or space planning

This policy reflects the nature of custom fabrication. Once materials are allocated and work begins, the piece exists for your project alone.

Pieces sold as Ready to Ship follow a separate 14-day return window, set out in our Return and refund policy.

Order Approval and Production Start

Production begins on the order approval date — the date all specifications are finalized in writing, including dimensions, materials, hardware, upholstery selections, and any required renderings.

Once an order is approved, it enters the production queue and is subject to the change order terms below.

Changes After Order Approval

Because every piece is cut, sewn, and constructed by hand to the client's specifications, changes after order approval result in material loss, schedule disruption, or both. Change order fees are tiered by production stage:

Pre-production (before pattern drafting begins): 15% of order value
Administrative and rescheduling fee. Changes accepted, production restart on revised specifications.

Post-pattern drafting, pre-cutting: 25% of order value
Patterns drafted, materials allocated but not cut. Changes may require new patterns and reallocation.

Post-cutting (leather or fabric committed): 50% of order value
Materials cut to specification and cannot be reused. Changes require new material and a new production cycle.

Post-assembly: Changes not accepted
Full price owed. If construction has begun on the frame or upholstery, the piece is committed.

Change order fees are charged in addition to any cost difference between the original and revised specifications. Timeline impact is communicated at the time the change is accepted.

Atelier HF reserves the right to decline change requests that would compromise materials already allocated, production scheduling, or the structural integrity of the piece.

Cancellations

Orders cancelled before order approval — that is, before specifications are finalized — are subject to a 10% administrative fee on any deposit paid. Remaining deposit is refunded.

Orders cancelled after order approval are subject to the change order fee structure above, applied as a cancellation fee at the corresponding production stage. The piece is forfeited; no remake or replacement is owed.

Defects and Build Issues

If a finished piece arrives with a confirmed manufacturing defect, or does not match the approved specifications, we will work to correct it. Resolution may include repair, adjustment, or remake at our discretion.

The following are not considered defects:

• Natural variation in full-grain leather, including brand scars, vein lines, insect bites, and color variation across the hide
• Slight differences in tone between hides or batches
• Settling of leather and foam during the first weeks of use
• Variation in stitch placement within standard tolerance
• Differences between renderings and finished pieces, where renderings were provided as visual approximations rather than exact representations

Claims of defect must be made in writing within 7 days of delivery, with photographs and a written description. Claims made after 7 days, or after the piece has been modified or used in a manner outside of normal residential or commercial use, may not be eligible for remediation.

Shipping and Damage in Transit

Shipping is arranged through commercial freight carriers and white-glove delivery services depending on the piece and destination. Transit time is separate from production time and quoted at the time of shipment.

If a piece arrives with shipping damage, the client must:

• Note the damage on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery
• Photograph the damage before unpacking is complete
• Notify Atelier HF in writing within 48 hours of delivery

Failure to document damage at delivery may limit our ability to file a freight claim and resolve the issue.

Custom Hardware and Third-Party Components

Certain hardware components — including mounting brackets fabricated by licensed third-party makers — carry their own fabrication standards and liability terms. Atelier HF will identify these components at the time of order. Warranty claims on third-party hardware are processed through the original fabricator.

Deposits and Payment

A deposit is required to enter the production queue. Deposit terms, balance schedule, and accepted payment methods are confirmed at the time of order and detailed in your order acknowledgment.

Final balance is due before shipment. Pieces are not released for delivery until payment is complete.

By placing an order with Atelier HF, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to:

Order acknowledgment serves as the written record of agreed specifications, pricing, and terms.
